Key terms

TermWhat it is
OrganizationYour team's workspace. Members, roles, the credit balance and integrations belong to it. Organizations never see each other's data.
ProjectOne app or product. It holds its own folders, test cases, environments, plans, runs, requirements and problems.
EnvironmentA named site with a base URL, such as Staging. Each plan, run and schedule uses one environment.
Browser profileA browser, a window size and, for phones and tablets, a device. Plans tick the profiles each case runs on.
Test caseOne behavior to check, written as steps, Gherkin or free text. Only Active cases run. IDs look like CHK-101.
Test planA reusable set of test cases, each ticked on one or more browser profiles, run against one environment.
Test runOne launch: of a plan, of selected cases (a quick run), of a schedule or by Qalion AI. IDs look like RUN-1000.
ExecutionOne test case on one browser profile, with one data row if a dataset is bound. Each has its own verdict and evidence.
RequirementA statement your test cases prove. Its verdict is Verified, Failing, Not run or Not covered.
ProblemOne root cause, collecting the failures it explains across runs and environments.
CreditsThe organization's balance that pays for AI work: test executions, Qalion AI and AI analyses.

The sidebar

The sidebar is one flat list, without Testing or Analysis groups:

ItemWhat it opens
DashboardThe quality of the selected project today
Test casesThe folders and test cases of the selected project
Test plansYour plans, their browser matrix and schedules
Test runsEvery run, live or finished, with its evidence
CoverageRequirements and whether passing tests prove them
InsightsPass rate, flaky tests, durations and cost over time
ProblemsFailures grouped by root cause
Qalion AIThe AI assistant, full page
IntegrationsConnected tools (MCP servers), Jira and API keys
TrashDeleted items, restorable for 30 days

Below the list, the collapsible Materials group holds Shared steps, Datasets, Documentation, Knowledge and Configuration. All of them except Knowledge are tabs of the project's test case page.

The project switcher sits at the bottom of the sidebar. The Dashboard, Test cases, Coverage, Insights, Problems and Knowledge all follow the project selected there. Its last item, All projects…, opens the Projects page, where you create, edit and delete projects.

Note
What you see depends on your role. Testers don't see Coverage, Insights, Problems or Integrations. Viewers see only the Dashboard. See Roles & permissions.

Top bar and avatar menu

  • Search (Ctrl/⌘ + K) finds test cases. Ctrl/⌘ + B collapses the sidebar.
  • The Tunnel button connects an app that is only reachable from your machine or network. See Private apps.
  • The Parallel sessions pill shows how many browser sessions are in use out of your organization's limit.
  • Notifications include organization invitations (Open invitation) and scheduled runs that were skipped or failed.
  • The avatar menu holds Account (your Profile page), Settings (Owners and Admins), Organizations, Appearance (Light, Dark, System), Language (English, French, Spanish), Help and Sign out.
  • On most pages, a round chat button on the right edge (it slides out to Qalion Chat on hover) opens Qalion AI in a floating window.
